The Truth About Downloading, Skeptics

Keith Urban, for the record, does care about downloading

If Keith Urban winds up winning a Grammy on Sunday evening, expect him to deliver an acceptance speech that’s more thoroughly planned than the one he gave at the recent People’s Choice Awards.

At the People’s Choice deal, Urban — who is nominated for four Grammys — said something about not caring whether people download his music illegally.

“I’ve never done an awards show where they seem to let you talk infinitely,” he said. “I was waiting for the ‘wrap’ sign to come up, and it never came up. And what I said came out nothing like I meant. I was referring to the old days when you’d buy a record, do a cassette tape and give it to your girlfriend, and then maybe she likes it and becomes a fan.

“For the record, I absolutely care about my music not being taken for free,” he continued. “But I love when people are passionate and want to turn friends on to music.”

(Incidentally, if you'd like to hear more from Urban, check out our recent Grammy-related chat with him HERE.)
