GOOD EATING IN LEAPER'S FORK

So today I thought I would focus on my own personal favorite part of each day in the studio (aside from the awesome new music, of course): LUNCH!

As I mentioned in the last blog entry, we are now operating out of a tiny studio in Leaperʼs Fork, Tenn. Leaper's Fork is about forty minutes from Nashville and the lunch options are “minimal” to say the least. Luckily, Keith knew of a place not too far from the studio. When lunch came around we all pile into a few cars and head down to ʻJoe Naturalʼsʼ. Itʼs owned by, you guessed it - Joe. Heʼs an older gent who hails from New York City and decided to move to Tennessee a few years back to become an organic farmer and open a market/restaurant that only serves food that he grows (or buys from other local/ organic farmers).

I wonʼt even try to explain how amazing the food is (Iʼm not that good with words). But letʼs just say that if I was made to eat Joeʼs food at every meal...Iʼd be happier and healthier for it. Great place to eat if you ever get the chance.

-Brad

Keith Urban caters to crowd at WE Fest day one

Detroit Lakes, Minn.
Keith Urban may be Australian, but he sure knows how to engage a Midwestern crowd.

Keith Urban may be Australian, but he sure knows how to engage a Midwestern crowd.

The singer/guitarist headlined the first night of WE Fest just outside Detroit Lakes on Thursday.

Urban took the stage to his hit “Kiss a Girl” and immediately won over the crowd, or at least the female demographic.

Even men enjoyed the energetic performance and the fiery fret work he whipped out on the chart-topper “Days Go By.”

With his stage moves and facial expressions shown on the Jumbotron, he had fans singing along with “I’m In.”

“Some performers want crowds to sit and listen to music and be on their best behavior,” he said before “Sweet Thing.”

“This is not one of those concerts,” he continued. “We want you to be on your baddest behavior.”

Montgomery Gentry really got the party started. In fact, that was their stated mission a number of times early in their set.

The duo’s energy and catchy choruses make for immediate stadium anthems like “Hell Yeah.”

While singer/guitarist Troy Gentry stuck close to his illuminated microphone stand, singer Eddie Montgomery prowled the stage, twirling his stand, thrusting it toward the crowd to encourage sing-alongs.

For whatever reason, “My Town” didn’t prompt quite as enthusiastic response as I expected (maybe people are tired of the ubiquitous ode to civic pride), but “One in Every Crowd” hit closer to home.

The testosterone twosome brought the show to a close covering KISS’ “Rock and Roll All Nite” before ending with their own “Gone.”

Nicole Kidman Sings Keith Urban's Charitable Praise

Posted: August 2nd, 2010 at 12:31 pm | By: Alison Bonaguro

Nicole Kidman is in Haiti right now, doing good things for women's rights with the United Nations Development Fund for Women. She's been at this for about five years, so she's no stranger to putting her celebrity to good use. But right behind her is husband Keith Urban, who she says is more than a better half. "Keith has done benefit concerts for us. He's been so supportive. I'm always like, 'Hey, I think I might be able to get hold of a musician.' He's so lovely," Kidman told USA Today. The only bad part of the work? Being away from their daughter Sunday Rose, 2. "I've spent two nights away from her in two years. I'm just so into her. I'm crazy about her," she says, adding that she and Urban are committed to teaching Sunday to have a very strong social conscience.

Nicole has a few more photos to share from her trip to Haiti. Check out the main page of her official website.

STS plans to update the sidebar soon, so check back for Nicole in Haiti and more!
