Keith Urban & Nicole Kidman: Golden Globe Nominees

It's been a stellar week, with more nominations coming in today. Keith was nominated with Monty Powell again for Best Song for "For You". Nicole as expected was nominted for Hemingway and Gellhorn but also for Best Supporting Actress in a film for The Paperboy. This nomination is a must if we wanted to see her nominated for an Oscar this year. It's still a long shot but now it's still a possibility. Congrats to everyone, including Clive Owen who was again also nominated!

Keith called his nomination a "huge honor".

"If I’m to be blunt, I wanted a song that was about taking the bullet, and not pulling the trigger. It was more about sacrificing my life for what I believe in, as opposed to taking a life for what I believe in."

Asked if this was the first time he and he wife had both been nominated at the same awards ceremony, Urban said, "It is, evidently. It’s crazy. I’m so, so proud of Nic, too. To get two nominations for separate roles is an extraordinary feat on its own."

Nicole posted on her Facebbook page

"Can't believe it! Thank you to all the actors who nominated me and especially to John Cusack and Zac Efron, who gave me so much. I am in Europe filming Grace Kelly and I was completely taken by surprise. Love & hugs, Nic xx"

And in the country music front - it's just been announced - Keith and Taylor Swift will guest on Tim McGraw's next album. The song is called "Two Lanes of Freedom" and will be released February 5. Exciting!

Congratulations to both Keith Urban and Nicole Kidman! Yesterday Keith and Monty Powell were nominated by the Critics Choice Movie Awards for Best Song for "For You" from Act of Valor. And this morning Nicole received two nominations from the Screen Actors Guild for her roles in The Paperboy and Hemingway and Gellhorn. Congrats also to Clive Owen who was nominated for his role in H&G!

The Critics Choice Awards are January 10th and the SAG Awards are handed out January 27th.

Nicole has released a sweet message on the nominations....

“This acknowledgement from my peers means everything to me. I love acting. I love actors. This has absolutely floored me. Thank you so much!”

We hope to see more across this year's awards season!

Nicole Kidman Covers Who Magazine's 20th Anniversary Issue

In one of her most revealing interviews to date, Nicole Kidman looks back on the past 20 years, telling WHO about her loves and heartbreak, the struggle to create the family of her dreams, and the moments—both dark and joyous—that have defined her eventful life. Kidman, the star of WHO’s 20th Anniversary Collector’s Issue, discusses the turmoil she suffered in the wake of her marriage breakdown to Tom Cruise, her emotional experiences with adoption, pregnancy, miscarriage and surrogacy, her career highs and how her love for husband Keith Urban has moved her life into “a really beautiful place.”

Speaking from her home in Nashville, Tennessee, the Oscar winning actress, 45, also reflects on some of her 56 WHO covers on which she has appeared since the magazine’s 1992 inception—more than any other celebrity. From the “loneliest, loneliest existence” she felt following her 2001 split to Cruise, to the surprise joy she discovered at finding love again with Urban in 2005, Kidman reveals: “There was a long time when I never thought it would happen for me again - and it happened! I never, ever take Keith or our love for granted and I always keep in my mind that my dream is to grow very old with him.” The mother of four also takes the opportunity to honour her adoptive children with Cruise, Bella, 19 and Connor, 17, as well as her daughters with Urban, Sunday, 4, and Faith, 21 months. “All of my kids are highlights of my life,” she says. “I remember when we adopted Bella, her looking at me for the very first time. That is extremely powerful, like a kind of birth, too. They are all my biggest joys.” Adds Kidman: “I married [Tom] really fast and really young, but I don’t regret that because it got me Bella and Connor, and I did have a fantastic marriage for a long period. Then when it didn't work out, I had to really dig deep and find my way through depression, but I have no regrets about all of it. It was all a part of growing up.”

Kidman also denies recent reports that she counselled Katie Holmes, 33, in the lead up to her surprise split from Cruise in June. While a source allegedly told American publication US Weekly, “They’ve spoken over the past few weeks,” Kidman denies this. “I never spoke to her,” she tells WHO exclusively. “I wish all of them well, but I was not involved in any of that.” On headlining WHO’s story “20 Years of Icons”, Kidman says, “I don’t feel like an icon, but it’s really nice to be called it!”

Nicole Kidman and Keith Urban Updates 10/02/2012

Keith on Lon Helton's Country Countdown USA is always a treat but this round of interview segments is especially good.

The local Fox affilliate in Charlotte, NC interviewed Keith at the latest round of Idol auditions. Click HERE to watch the clip.

Highlights from the post-Emmys Paperboy press conference have been published. Click HERE for the full article.

As for Nicole, we told her that “The Paperboy” took her to places she hasn’t gone before and it seemed to be a really brave performance. “Yeah, well, I read the script and I knew Lee’s work from ‘Precious,’” she said. “I just never get asked to do roles like that particularly not as I’ve got further along in my career. I think as you move along, you tend to get cast in the way people see you and that’s a frustration as an actor a lot of times because what you’re looking for are things that are not what you are or what you’ve done. “You’re looking to stretch yourself and work from a place of discomfort and an uncomfortable place rather than a place of comfort. So that’s why I thought I’d love to give this a go and go to a place that’s a lot rawer than I’ve been before. Obviously, the sexuality of it was frightening but at the same time, it’s my job as an actor to commit to the role and not sort of through my own inhibitions run away from that.” Radiant in a L’Wren Scot nude-colored blouse and gray skirt, Nicole talked about being 45 and having two young children with country singer, Keith Urban – Sunday Rose, 4, and Faith Margaret, one year-and-nine month-old. She said, “I feel a bit more tired and I ache a little more sometimes but I have two young children in my forties which is spectacular. To be given that gift at this age, to be raising these little girls at this age is just such a great gift. But at the same time, I don’t have the stamina that I had in my twenties. However, intellectually and emotionally, my whole desire as a human being is to live a well examined life and it’s to go in and think. So that then I can have more compassion, more kindness, more understanding and hopefully, do things in the world that are relevant. “So at this age, I think my understanding of who I am and what I want to do is far much greater than when I was a teenager, in my twenties and my thirties. I can’t wait to see what it’s like in my fifties because there is that wonderful thing that just age and knowledge and the idea of having lived a long life and then being able to contribute in a way.” As for her hubby of six years, Keith, Nicole revealed, “he has got it down now. The first one he was far more awkward with Sunday Rose when in her first year. It was so foreign to him. Now, I can totally have him take care of both of them. I have had to go away for a day or two here and there and he can handle it and that is a wonderful thing to be able to fall back on.”

And more Paperboy updates... the sold-out NYFF event honoring Nicole is tomorrow night. More great reviews for Nicole in the film are coming out.

Per industry word, The Paperboy will enter in limited release and then go into rolling release which means more screens. It's a polarizing film but Nicole's performance is the centerpiece and will be "the one to watch" once it has screened publicly. The film has gotten more and more praise from private screenings.

Keith Urban & Nicole Kidman Updates 10/01/2012

Keith, Sunday, and Faith arrive in Nice, France where Nicole is filming Grace of Monaco .

An excerpt of a Who Magazine interview with Nicole has showed up online. Hopefully the full article will surface.

Q YOU WERE QUITE THE PROUD WIFE BACKSTAGE WHILE KEITH WAS IN THE SPOTLIGHT EARLIER THIS YEAR, RECORDING THE VOICE IN SYDNEY. A. It was beautiful to watch. I felt like everyone got to know the man I love. I think it came across on the show that he's this sort of mellow guy who just goes with the flow. And because of him, that's how our family rolls now too. Q HE WAS NICKNAMED THE HUMAN JUKEBOX, MOUTHING THE WORDS TO EVERY SONG. IS HE LIKE THAT AT HOME? A. There is probably no time in our house that there is not music playing. It's cool, but I have to admit there are times when I need to just get away and meditate because I need silence. He doesn't though. There's jazz and classical, country, rock and alternative. We have everything on. Q. HAS HE MADE MUSIC A LARGER PART OF YOUR LIFE? A. I've always loved music. And using it is one of the ways that I get into emotion for my characters. I sing a little bit, but I gave up piano when I was 10. Keith can play anything by ear. He hears it once and he can play it. His passion for music, that's something I really want my children to have. Q. YOU SEEM VERY AT EASE WITH YOUR LIFE. A. That's Keith. He's made me relax. I have someone with me now who says, "It's OK, we'll grow old together, we'll be OK." It is really lovely to have that in your life. When I found it, it was like, "Wow, we're going to change together-we're on a journey together. Lets go!"

Keith Urban & Nicole Kidman Updates 9/25/2012

The first official photos from The Railway Man with Nicole and Colin Firth have been released!

We love the adorable Zooey Deschanel. She was a guest on Ellen recently and recounted Emmy night which was full of emotions for her including the red carpet line where she was just trying to be polite, darn it! Watch below!

Barbra Streisand was on Katie Couric's new talk show and mentioned Keith Urban as one of the "good guys" when asked about future duet partners. To our knowledge, the only country artist Barbra has sung with is Vince Gill, over 10 years ago, with a song written by Richard Marx. Watch below!

There's a story going around that Nicole and Keith chatted with Robert Pattinson Emmy night at Jimmy Kimmel's Soho House afterparty. While that's entirely possible, until there's actual proof we don't think it happened. Nic and Keith were brief guests at the HBO gathering, chatting with Julianne Moore, Michael J. Fox, and Jane Fonda. It's unlikely they made a second stop.

Keith called into Chicago's US99 to talk Idol and family. You can listen to that interview HERE.

And finally, Keith is among the actors, musicians, patients, parents, medical staff and supporters, singing "Hey Jude" for the St. Jude Children's Medical Hospital. Watch the video below for this moving rendition!

First Look: Nicole Kidman's Stoker

September 19, 2012

Keith Urban & Nicole Kidman Updates 9/19/2012

Keith has been enjoying the first rounds of auditions of American Idol. Word is that the crew has a great chemistry and it should be very interesting to see what they agree/disagree on.

From the exec producer of The Voice Australia

@JulieWardTV: Word from the set of American Idol is that @KeithUrban is fantastic. But we at #TheVoiceAU knew that. We miss him but wish only the best

This comes just as the skeptics in the basement are creating fake posters who are "Australian" or just now "deciding to join in". Spelling mistakes and all. Of course there's the poster that says she has sources which are really Google links she's not posting and her own imagination. They keep trying and failing but that's what happens when you join a board specifically created by an owner that has a desperate need to throw reality out the window.

CNN has a peice profiling the judges on why they decided to join. You can watch that HERE.

CMT has a list of why Keith is a great choice for AI. We have to agree!
You can read the list HERE.

Keith will be the guest host on this weekend's Country Countdown USA with Lon Helton. For more click HERE.

Keith also has the honor of being picked by The Grand Ole Opry as the spokesperson for their new radio campaign. You can read more and listen to the ads HERE.

Keith's segment on this year's Country's Night to Rock is now up!

Nicole is off to France again for pre-preoduction on Grace of Monaco. She'll be back in the States though for The Emmys this weekend. We can't wait.

Speaking of The Emmys, nominated actors were asked what were their favorite tv shows growing up. Nicole has answered this before, around the time of the Bewitched remake. She also borught up th e two miniseries that really started it all for her. Miniseries tend to get a bad rap but the Kennedy-Miller productions were always of such high quality that Nicole's movies have been available on dvd for ages. Check them out if you haven't already. You can read the small story HERE.

Lee Daniels spoke recently about working with Nicole on The Paperboy. To read more click HERE.

Daniels: I said to Nicole, 'Listen, if you can't do your own makeup on this, you can't do this movie because you don't know this character,'" Daniels says. "This chick is, well, she's trailer trash. When one thinks of Nicole Kidman, one doesn't think of that. I thought she'd go running for the hills, but she came back right at me."

She sure did. Kidman, 45, texted Daniels photos of herself in naughty lingerie in which she also did her own—yup!—makeup. By now, most movie fans have heard about the scene in which Kidman urinates on Efron after his character is stung by a jellyfish.
"Nicole gets down and dirty," Daniels said. "But let me tell you what else she does, she sent the crew members champagne. She's in the trenches. She was at craft services helping out. She was one of the guys."

We haven't heard much on The Railway Man. That's because Colin and the crew snuck off to Australia with very little press coverage compared to Scotland. Nicole did not film any scenes there but we did find an interview with Colin where he talks about the film, Australia, and Nicole. Colin quipped on Nicole being his wife in the film "Some things are easy." and that she was an asset in his goal to play a husband returning as a tortured man.

You can read more and watch the video HERE.

Keith Urban Joins American Idol As Judge

From Keith - ”It’s really an honor to have been invited to be a part of the ‘American Idol’ family. I'm looking forward to working with everyone and to seeing the same passion that I have for music in all of the participants.”

Auditions start today in NY. Congrats Keith! The show is lucky to have you!

Keith Urban and Nicole Kidman Updates 9/13/2012

Keith has officially decided not to rejoin The Voice Australia next year as a judge. The timing with the new album and tour just didn't fit. It is of note, the other three judges, Seal, Delta Goodrem, and Joel Madden have not yet resigned either. However, with Keith in good faith giving a timely decision, the show has plenty of room to find a replacement. The Voice has made the statement that Keith will always be a part of The Voice family. With so much of the success of the show being due to Keith's class and expertise we have no doubt.

Nicole is part of 2012 Respect Challenge going on right now. She and other celebrities including Julianne Moore, Ed Harris, and Willie Mays have made a video promoting the values of tolerance and respect. You can watch it here.

Click HERE to download the latest podcast of Nicole calling into the Kyle and Jackie O radio show. It's always fun when she calls in and shares some stories. Sunday is starting soccer which is no surprise since there were sightings of the family at the local soccer academy. No telling how much soccer will actually be played by ones that little but it sure sounds like a fun time. Another sighting from a guy who was trying to get out of the rain and met Keith and Nicole trying to do the same thing!

Finally, we can't recommend enough the new albums from Little Big Town ("Tornado") and Matchbox Twenty ("North"). For MB20 fans be sre to pick up the Target edition for the exclusive track "Waiting on a Train". Great stuff!
